Developed by DESTO and commercially marketed by World Industrial and Defence Options (GIDS), the SPIDER appears to be a medium-range C-UAS system.
It leverages a Hino 300 as a platform to accommodate an operator cabin for command-and-control (C2), a power-generation set, and an assortment of C-UAS programs.
The C-UAS programs incorporate two completely different RF detection and direction-finding programs mounted onto masts, each of which permit for passive detection of primarily category-1 and category-2 UAVs (akin to loitering munitions and medium-altitude long-endurance drones, respectively) at distances of past 10 km. A ‘passive’ sensor sometimes screens an space for radio emissions from communications hyperlinks, radars, and satellite tv for pc hyperlinks.
