A 7-time convicted felon violently attacked a tv information reporter as she sat in her SUV within the Loop and continued the assault till passers-by teamed as much as pull him off the sufferer, prosecutors stated.
At about 12:46 p.m. on January 2, the veteran reporter was sitting in her luxurious SUV within the 200 block of North State Avenue, simply south of Wacker Drive, when Noah Johnson, 43, allegedly walked up and opened her driver’s door.
Johnson, with out saying a phrase, proceeded to punch the reporter within the face because the sufferer honked her horn, hoping to get somebody’s consideration, based on a Chicago police report. Prosecutors allege Johnson tried to tug the reporter out of her automobile and that the assault was so violent it dislodged the sufferer’s salivary gland. Whereas Johnson didn’t say something as he carried out the assault, he did mumble to himself and growl on the sufferer, the report acknowledged.
A lady standing on a close-by nook heard the lady’s horn and noticed Johnson attacking the sufferer contained in the SUV, the CPD report stated. She recruited different passers-by, who pulled Johnson off the sufferer and stopped him from persevering with the assault, prosecutors stated. Johnson then fled the scene.
CPD’s report stated the assault was captured on video by a number of surveillance cameras. A warrant was issued for Johnson’s arrest on January 13. He was lately situated and detained on that warrant.
He’s charged with tried vehicular hijacking, illegal vehicular invasion, and aggravated battery in a public place.
