Shots fired on CTA bus in Wicker Park, suspect detained


Chicago police detained a suspect after photographs have been fired aboard a CTA bus in Wicker Park in a single day.

Officers responding to a bus panic alarm round 1:05 a.m. noticed a person with a gun and launched a search to take him into custody. Roughly 5 minutes later, police confirmed the alarm concerned gunfire on the bus within the 1400 block of North Ashland Avenue.

At the very least two passengers have been on the bus when the person fired photographs, however they exited at Blackhawk Avenue and fled the scene.

Police arrested the 34-year-old suspect within the 1600 block of West North Avenue round 1:22 a.m. Officers recovered a firearm, in accordance with the Chicago Police Division. Costs are pending.
