Poland readies $740 million fund to jump-start ammunition production



WARSAW, Poland — Polish lawmakers have voted to allocate some 3 billion złoty ($740 million) for investments in ramping up the nation’s ammunition manufacturing capacities, with a selected deal with much-needed 155mm artillery shells.

The choice to approve the invoice was made by the Sejm, the decrease chamber of the Polish parliament, on Nov. 27 by a majority of 424 votes, with no lawmakers voting in opposition to the measure. Following this, the laws must be accredited by the senate, the higher chamber, and signed by the president to enter into power.

The allotted funds “will probably be used to capitalize firms chargeable for producing ammunition, specifically artillery ammunition of caliber 155mm,” Polish Deputy State Property Minister Marcin Kulasek stated in a social media publish.

“I’m tremendously impressed by Slovakia’s manufacturing capacities within the discipline of ammunition, specifically the 155mm one, but in addition different sorts,” Kosiniak-Kamysz informed his counterpart. “We need to develop our protection business along with you.”

The Polish navy requires growing 155mm ammunition deliveries for its rising fleet of K9 Thunder and Krab self-propelled howitzers, manufactured by South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace and Poland’s state-run protection group PGZ, respectively.
