Poland leases eight Apache gunships as warmup ahead of major delivery

WARSAW, Poland — The Polish Ministry of Nationwide Defence has signed a $300 million deal to lease eight Boeing AH-64D Apache helicopters from the USA this yr. The contract is available in anticipation of the deliveries of 96 AH-64E copters Poland ordered in August 2024.

Talking on the official signing ceremony on Feb. 27 on the 56th Aviation Base in Inowrocław, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Nationwide Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated the intention is to arrange the air drive for working a big Apache fleet designed to spice up its assault capabilities.

“In 2028, we’re awaiting the primary 15 of the 96 models that we ordered final yr for a substantial quantity of 10 billion {dollars},” Kosiniak-Kamysz was quoted in a press release launched by his ministry. “That is why we’re leasing right this moment, we’re spending $300 million on this, in order that our pilots, floor crews can get acquainted with this gear, be taught all the abilities, take management of it.”

Deliveries of the 96 plane with associated gear and weapons are scheduled to be accomplished in 2032. As soon as the helicopters are provided to Poland, the nation’s navy is anticipated to be the second-largest person of the Apaches on this planet after the USA.

Beneath the offset agreements concluded as a part of the procurement, Polish protection firms might be concerned in servicing and upgrading the helos.
