Pakistan’s safety forces killed 5 militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Pishin district, Balochistan, on 22 February 2026. The Inter-Companies Public Relations (ISPR) described the targets as Indian-sponsored operatives belonging to what the Pakistani state designates as ‘Fitna al Khwarij,‘ and said that one was a suicide bomber.
The forces seized weapons, ammunition, and explosives throughout the operation. ISPR said that the militants have been concerned in assaults throughout the area, with follow-on sanitisation operations ongoing underneath the Azm e Istehkam marketing campaign.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif counseled the safety forces on 23 February, framing the operation as a part of a broader nationwide effort towards militant teams. Nationwide Meeting Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq provided comparable remarks, citing the forces’ position in what he described as restoring peace to Balochistan, Daybreak reported.
Sustained Tempo on the Western Frontier
The Pishin IBO is a part of a broader operational surge throughout Pakistan’s western provinces. A separate IBO in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), killed 4 militants on the identical day.
Earlier in February, Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 had resulted in what ISPR reported as 216 militants killed, indicating a sustained and escalating tempo of operations throughout each Balochistan and KP.
This sample is in line with what Quwa has tracked for over a 12 months. In January 2025, Quwa reported that the Pakistan Military had carried out no less than 15 COIN/CT operations within the first weeks of that month alone, with Kacchi and Zhob districts being focal factors in Balochistan and Kurram, Karak, and Khyber in KP.
The present operational rhythm means that this tempo has, if something, intensified.
