Delhi High Court orders laying down of new sewer line across AIIMS – India Legal

AIIMS had earlier opposed the proposal on the grounds that the sewer line was proposed to be laid on land owned by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), which was earlier not a celebration to the plea.

The Division Bench had then impleaded NDMC and directed it to carry a gathering to determine the feasibility of offering NDMC land throughout the AIIMS premises for laying down the sewer line.

On June 18, the NDMC, the DJB, AIIMS and the petitioner made their submissions earlier than the Excessive Court docket.

The DJB apprised the Division Bench that throughout the latest rains within the nationwide capital, there was no water logging within the Inexperienced Park Extension space owing to constant and protracted cleansing of the sewer traces by DJB. The l sewer line, which was to be laid throughout AIIMS, wouldn’t be greater than 200 meters lengthy and solely require about 130 meters of land throughout the AIIMS premises, it added.

The Excessive Court docket noticed that in view of the above circumstances, it didn’t doubt the need of laying sewer line throughout the AIIMS premises to forestall water logging within the involved areas.

It directed each the DJB and the MCD to finish de-silting and cleansing of the sewer line and the storm water drain regularly throughout the present monsoon season in order to forestall any water logging within the areas in query.

The Division Bench additional ordered {that a} assembly be held by the Chief Engineer of DJB with AIIMS, MCD, NDMC, PWD and any accountable officers from Delhi authorities’s Forest Division to make sure that if any approval was required for uprooting and replantation of bushes that fall within the path of the sewer line, the identical is also obtained.
