4 injured, 3,600 gallons of fuel spilled in truck vs. Amtrak train crash near Lompoc

4 individuals have been injured and hundreds of gallons of diesel gas spilled after an Amtrak practice struck a disabled semi-truck obstructing the monitor close to Lompoc on Wednesday afternoon, authorities stated.

Amtrak Prepare 14 was touring from Los Angeles to Seattle when it bumped into the truck at 4:12 p.m. simply north of the Lompac-Surf station in Santa Barbara County, in line with an Amtrak spokesperson. There have been 218 passengers and crew members on board.

The Santa Barbara County Fireplace Division responded to the crash close to Freeway 1 and Brown Highway and transported 4 individuals to Marian Regional Medical Heart for therapy, in line with division spokesperson Scott Safechuck. The truck driver sustained main accidents, and three passengers sustained minor accidents, he stated.

The semi-truck was knocked sideways off the monitor and spilled about 3,600 gallons of diesel gas, Safechuck stated.

The practice remained upright on the monitor and passengers have been instructed to stay inside till buses arrived to take them to their vacation spot, he stated.

Freeway 1 is presently closed between Foremost Avenue and Brown Highway. Amtrak police are cooperating with native regulation enforcement to analyze the incident.

A truck driver was killed in an analogous incident in June when a semi-truck collided with a Metrolink practice close to Moorpark. In July, a girl misplaced her arm after a motorcycle she was holding was hit by a practice as she was crossing railroad tracks in Ventura.
